Chapter 2 Installation
The complete system includes laser engraver main unit, laser power supply, exhaust fan, air compressor, water chiller, air duct and data cable. Users may prepare computer, printer, scanner as required.
Section 1 Laser Tube Installation
The laser tube is fragile glass and packed separately for safe transport, install it before commissioning.
The laser tube is mounted at the rear of machine. Open the laser tube protective cover, two laser tube brackets can be seen.
Installation Guide
Carefully place the laser tube on the brackets. The light outlet (negative end) faces the 1st mirror, keep approx. 10mm distance between laser tube outlet and the 1st mirror.
Fasten the strap on laser tube bracket and tighten screws to fix the laser tube.
Notes:
① Do not over-tighten to avoid breaking the laser tube;
② Keep the water inlet at the bottom of laser tube.
After fixing the laser tube, connect the water inlet pipe (with water protection switch) to the water inlet of laser tube negative end; connect the outlet pipe to laser tube water outlet.
All pipe joints must be tightly connected to prevent leakage. Arrange hoses without kinks to guarantee smooth water flow.
Section 2 Laser Power Supply Installation
Place laser power supply into the cabinet behind worktable. Connect positive cable first: run the high-voltage positive wire of laser tube through the wire hole, align the copper terminal with positive stud of laser power supply, fasten the white plastic nut slowly.
(Note: Some laser power supplies have no white connector; use silicone insulating sleeve during wiring to prevent high-voltage creepage and arcing.)
Then connect laser tube negative wire to negative terminal of laser power supply.
Finally connect the 220V power input cable and signal cable of laser power supply. Installation completed.
Section 3 Water Chiller Installation
Fill the chiller tank with pure water. Connect chiller outlet port to the inlet pipe of cutter, and another pipe from cutter outlet back to chiller to form circulating water loop.
Switch on chiller power. Water fills the laser tube gradually, smooth outflow indicates normal chiller operation.
A water protection sensor is equipped in circulation system. The cutter enters protection mode and stops laser emission if water flow is blocked or chiller fails. Regularly inspect chiller status and clean pipes during daily maintenance.
Section 4 Air Pump Installation
Connect air compressor outlet to cutter air inlet with air pipe, switch on power and confirm normal air output.
The air compressor plays a key role: compressed air blows out from laser head nozzle, which keeps the focusing lens clean and prevents workpiece combustion. Check air pipes regularly, kinked or broken pipes cause abnormal air blowing and fire risk.
Section 5 Exhaust Fan Installation
Connect air duct to exhaust fan outlet and lead exhaust outside, connect fan power cable.
Section 6 Grounding
The CO₂ laser tube is Class 4 laser excited by high voltage. Users must comply with safety rules and implement reliable grounding in accordance with local electrical standards:
- L: Live wire, fitted with safety switch (switch must be installed on live wire)
- N: Neutral wire, paired with live wire for power supply
- E: Earth wire, connect all metal housing / grounding terminals of equipment to this line. Ground resistance <5Ω.
Grounding must be inspected and confirmed by professional electrician!
Poor grounding leads to high failure rate and potential safety hazards. Our company takes no responsibility for faults or accidents caused by bad grounding.
If no earth wire available on site, professional electrician shall build grounding grid as follows:
① Drive 2–4 pieces of 4×35×1500mm angle steel into moist soil around building, spaced 1m apart. Connect all angle steel with 3×30mm flat iron above ground to form grounding grid.
② Test ground resistance after installation, target value: 3–5Ω.
③ Use RVV 2.5mm² copper cable: one end connects to grounding grid terminal, the other end connects to machine ground terminal and socket earth pin.

Power Off: Laser → Power Strip → Mainboard → LED Light → Main Switch
Chapter 4 Optical Path Alignment
After all cables are connected and powered on, the machine resets and returns to last positioning point, which means normal operation. Switch on laser power supply and start optical adjustment.
Optical alignment steps:
Step1: Ensure laser beam from laser tube hits the center of the 1st mirror.
Step2: Stick double-sided tape (or markable material) in front of the 2nd mirror. Move gantry closest to laser tube, press Pulse (adjust proper laser power) to leave a mark.
(Warning: Test laser spot position with cardboard first to avoid laser injury.)
Step3: Move gantry to the farthest position from laser tube, press Pulse to make another mark.
Step4: Adjust the 1st mirror if two marks do not overlap, until they align at center.
Step5: Repeat Step2–Step4 until marks fully coincide.
Step6: Stick double-sided tape in front of the 3rd mirror. Move laser head closest to the 2nd mirror, press Pulse to mark.
Step7: Move laser head to farthest position from the 2nd mirror, press Pulse to mark.
Step8: Adjust the 2nd mirror if two marks do not overlap, until they align at center.
Step9: Repeat Step6–Step8 until marks fully coincide.
Step10: Verify spot consistency at four corners of worktable (bottom left, bottom right, top right, top left). If misaligned, restart alignment from Step1.
Step11: After four-corner spots coincide, check whether the spot hits the center of laser head inlet. If not, switch off laser power and adjust laser tube position:
Vertical offset: Raise or lower laser tube. (Spot must not go out of mirror range.)
Horizontal offset: Move laser tube forward / backward. (Spot must not go out of mirror range.)
For outward offset: Move laser tube outward; For upward offset: Lower laser tube; For downward offset: Raise laser tube.
Note: The above adjustment is for laser tube outlet (negative end). Adjustment direction is reversed when adjusting the positive end.
Step12: Repeat Step1–Step11 until spots coincide at all corners and hit the center of laser head inlet.
⚠️ Only trained operators can perform optical adjustment. Take strict anti-laser protection.
Step13: Stick double-sided tape under focusing lens, press Pulse to check if spot is centered at aperture. Adjust mirrors if needed.
Reinstall laser tube protective cover after optical path calibration.
Adjust focal length before cutting after optical alignment:
Use dedicated focal gauge to set laser head height according to factory focal parameter. Loosen two copper screws on laser head, set distance between workpiece and laser head to specified focal length, tighten screws.
Alternative focal checking methods:
Method 1: Judge by spot size.
Place workpiece under laser head, adjust height. Press Pulse continuously. The smallest spot corresponds to optimal focal height.
Method 2: Judge by cutting depth.
Place workpiece under laser head, adjust height. Press and hold Position key over 3 seconds. Maximum engraving depth indicates best focal position.

Chapter 6 Daily Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Stable operation relies on proper daily operation and maintenance.
Section 1 Daily Maintenance
- Water replacement & chiller cleaning (Recommended: once per week)Ensure laser tube is fully filled with circulating water before startup.Water quality and temperature directly affect laser tube lifespan. Pure water required, water temperature ≤35℃. Replace water or add ice if over 35℃. Water chiller is highly recommended.
Cleaning steps: Cut off power, disconnect inlet pipe, drain water from laser tube to chiller tank. Open chiller, take out water pump and clean sediment. Clean tank, refill pure water, reinstall pump and hoses. Power pump separately and run 2–3 minutes to fill laser tube.
- Exhaust fan cleaningDust accumulates inside fan after long running, causing loud noise and poor smoke extraction. Cut off power, detach inlet and outlet duct, remove dust. Flip fan and turn blades for full cleaning, then reassemble.
- Lens cleaning (Recommended: before daily work, power off)There are 3 reflection mirrors and 1 focusing lens:Mirror #1: Laser tube outlet (Top left of machine)Mirror #2: Left end of gantryMirror #3: Top of laser head housingFocusing lens: Adjustable lens barrel under laser head.
Dust on lenses causes laser attenuation or lens damage.
Mirror #1 and #2 can be cleaned without disassembly: Rotate wipe from center to edge with lens paper soaked in cleaning liquid.
Mirror #3 and focusing lens need to be taken out for cleaning in the same way, reinstall after cleaning.
Notes:
① Wipe gently, do not scratch coating;
② Handle carefully to avoid dropping;
③ Install focusing lens with concave side downward.
- Guide rail cleaning (Recommended: once every two weeks, power off)Prepare dry cloth and lubricating oil (sewing machine oil, DO NOT use engine oil).Linear guide: Move laser head to far side, wipe rail with dry cloth until bright, add a little lubricant, slide laser head back and forth evenly.Roller guide: Move gantry inward, open side covers of machine, wipe contact surface between rail and rollers with dry cloth. Move gantry and clean remaining area.
- Optical path InspectionThe optical system consists of 3 reflection mirrors and focusing lens. Focusing lens position is fixed; reflection mirrors may shift mechanically. Inspect optical path before every job. Refer to Chapter 4 for alignment.
